Joseph Hirsch: Research pharmacologist/neuroscientist (Ph.D.), psychologist (Psy.D.), and neuropsychologist (internship, fellowship at NYU) by training. His first basic laboratory research (1970's) was on the mechanisms of action of lithium). Practice divided among psychotherapy, neuropsychological evaluations, and forensic practice. Psychotherapy is primarily with late adolescents and adults (individual, marital/couples) with additional interests in family and groups. Eclectic psychotherapist using psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, behavioral, hypnotherapeutic, family systems, humanistic, and stress reduction modalities. Neuropsychological practice is strictly evaluative with emphasis on diagnosis and elucidation of dementia and other memory disorders, epilepsy, TBI, LD, ADHD vs bipolar, as well as differential diagnosis of psychological/personality vs neurodegenerative/ neuropathological disorders. Interested in clinical research of bipolar disorder and dementia from a neuropsychological perspective.
